“Contemporary Muslim Fashion” – from 5 April to 1 September, the Frankfurt Museum of Applied Arts is presenting an exhibition that has not only attracted Middle Eastern casts, but has also made headlines in the press in the run-up to the event.
At a time when so-called “burqa bans” and “headscarf debates” are not only being discussed, but also instrumentalized by right-wing groups in particular, we felt it was necessary to take a look at this special exhibition. So, we sent Svenja to see it for herself. What is presented to the visitor here as ‘Muslim’ fashion? To what extent does this reflect a broad spectrum of lifestyles of people from the Middle Eastern cultural area? What goals are the curators pursuing with the exhibition?
Listen in, make up your own mind and don’t forget to visit the exhibition!
