On a trip to Tripoli, Lebanon

In this episode, Julia and Tatjana take us to Tripoli – at a very special time: Ramadan.
Tripoli. This is not only the name of the capital of Libya, but also the second largest city in Lebanon. The city is 85 kilometres from Beirut and can be reached by informal van in just under an hour and a half. A large souq tempts you with second-hand clothes, old hammams and the decorations of the mosques in the Mamluk old town invite you to take photos and the harbour (al-mina) juts out into the Mediterranean and is perfect for a stroll.
Family businesses in Tripoli have been making handmade olive soap since the 19th century and taxi drivers proudly maintain their old Mercedes models. Reasons enough for a trip!
