Sound of War – Special Production on Sudan

Khartoum, 15 April 2023: Gunfire on the streets … what to do? Flee? Or wait and see? And where to? And does this really mean war? … a year and a half ago, what was to become the largest refugee movement of our time began in Sudan: street fighting between the army and the paramilitary militias of the Rapid Support Forces developed into a war. And two of the participants in our podcast fellowship programme Aswatona are right in the middle of it and suddenly have to find answers to these questions: Sondos Ayoub and Mazen Deng share with us what they experienced, what they thought and, above all, what they heard – in their audio diary for this special episode of Aswatona Podcast under the original Arabic title ‘Sound of War’, they deal with the threat of warfare, with physical and sexualised violence, with close missile strikes and machine gun salvos outside the window. Please take care when listening to this episode.
